Decades Of Rock Show, Charlotte, NC, September 15, 2018
On September 15, I'll be bringing back my series of shows playing the music that many of us grew up with. This new series, entitled Decades Of Rock, features some of your favorite local musicians playing the music that rocked the world, and rocked our world during those times. The Mannish Boys open the show with the garage rock and R&B of the 1960s, and then Randy Franklin & The Sardines bring the 1970s, some of the 80s back to life. The show is at Neighborhood Theatre, doors are at 7pm, and the show is at 8pm. And tickets are $10, online and at the door. All of our fine FCP books will be available at the show, as well. Spread the word, see you there, and see you on the road.

RIP Barry Stacks Of The Grifs
Hello all-
Barry Stacks, singer and leader of the Grifs, passed away two weeks ago. Barry formed the Grifs in Charlotte, NC in 1964, and they went to record two of the best singles that ever came from the city, "Catch A Ride" and "Keep Dreaming". I interviewed Barry for both editions of our NC 1960s Rock & Roll book. Thanks for the ride, Barry,

Norman Blake Salutes The Paragons And "Abba"
Hello all-
Imagine my surprise as I'm reading the new issue of Mojo Magazine 60s, as Norman Blake of Teenage Fanclub is listing his favorite songs of the 1960s. The first song listed? "Abba", by the Paragons. A song, and a band that we featured in our NC 1960s Rock & Roll book. Wow! Thank you, Norman. And how is it that I still haven't seen the Fannies live yet? I must remedy that, immediately.
And yes, the video of the Paragons playing "Abba" on The Village Sqaure TV show in 1967 is awesome. Let's play it now!
