Hello again! Fort Canoga Press Is Back! Three New Books!

Hello all-

On Monday, in honor of St. Patrick's Day, and because I felt like doing it, I released three new books. Three new, massive books, in one day.

For some time, I have wanted to collect my print interviews over the past thirty years. Afters years scouring all over to find the work of other artists, I realized that I wanted my own work to be collected and released in one place, and hopefully find new readers and listeners in the process. Sooner or later, the work we create lives on away from us, and eventually beyond us.
Two of the books reflect my love of the music of the 1960s. My Flash On You, Volumes One And Two collects interviews with everyone from the Animals, Big Star, Cyrkle, Left Banke, Sonics, Procol Harum, Love and many more. The third, Hurried Documents, collects interviews ranging from Douglas Adams, to baseball players, Marx Brothers writers, musicians, and many others. All of these books also chart my journey as a writer and interviewer, and collector of stories.
All three books are available on Amazon, via the links below, and soon to be at your favorite local bookstore. These are interesting times that we live in. Ultimately, all one can do some days is stand in the wind, run your flag up the pole and say, I'm doing this. Because you want to, whether or not the world is watching. And hey, how many times in your life can you say, I released three books today?
Today is that day.
Enjoy, and see you on the road.

The Last Days Of The Double Door Inn

As I photographed the last few nights of the Double Door Inn, as 2016 turned into 2017, I realized that the photos were becoming its own project. The story of the venue, which I would write again later in 2017, were one thing. The photos were telling their own story, which is now collected in The Last Days Of The Double Door Inn.

The familiar spaces and faces. All of the character that we knew so well. The music, and the good times. No need for words, it's all there. I intended to put this book together in 2018, but life got in the way, until life for most of us came to a halt earlier this year.

While it is strange for me to release this book in the middle of so much turmoil, perhaps it shouldn't be. For many of us, the Double Door was the place that the world needs more than ever. No lines, no division, just people, laughter, music and fun. We all could use our own Double Door Inn right now. Let us celebrate the past, and remember that a dream lives on, as long as there are those that are willing to dream of it.

Welcome back to the Double Door Inn.

Postponing This Saturday's Decades Of Rock Show, More News Soon

So here's a story about the hurricane. Randy Franklin and the Sardines, and Jake Berger and the Mannish Boys are prepared to rock you like a hurricane on Saturday, but it's best to not Rock during a hurricane. I know, there's calm in your eyes, but you'll keep being blown away, so it's better to be somewhere safer where the feeling stays. So yes, we're postponing our inaugural Decades Of Rock show until a later date. Until then, we'll all be riding the storm out, waiting for the fallout. Spread the word, see you on the Weather Channel, and see you on the road.
